Recipe: Japanese Steakhouse Dipping Sauce

IMG_3509This is a dipping sauce that I make which tastes identical to the one made famous by Benihana Japanese Steakhouse and often-times used for shrimp but lots of people like to put it on everything.  😉
Ingredients

  • 2 cups mayonnaise
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 teaspoon granulated sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2 garlic cloves
  • 3 to 4 teaspoons catsup
  • 1 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1 teaspoon dry mustard
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 3/4 teaspoon white pepper

Combine the water and garlic and blend it with a food processor, hand blender, or whatever is convenient.  You will then strain the water through a paper towel or cheesecloth into a mixing bowl.  The point here is to get a garlic flavor without any pieces.
Mix the rest of the ingredients together, and you’re done.
Enjoy!
